My Daughter’s Birthday Part I

Time goes by far too quickly, I know this to be so true.  The preparations for my daughter’s first birthday began a few days before her birthday as I tried to enjoy the last few days before she turned one and officially becoming a big girl! Whose Birthday Party is It, Anyway?

Ah the birthday party! Organizing and coordinating the perfect party has become an obsession with the average family—at least it can seem that way. We want our child to have a great day, sure, but we may also get caught up in trying to give the standard party for our socio-economic level, meet neighborhood and peer group expectations, and make sure that our child doesn’t feel slighted. Birthdays at School

Having a birthday on a school day can be very exciting for a child. The class sings happy birthday and often parents send cupcakes or cookies. Most students’ birthdays in my class have gone rather well. However, there have been a few times that the day could have gone better. For those days, I have some advice. If sending birthday party invitations to school, please send enough invitations for the entire class or at least invite either all of the girls or all of the boys, depending on the gender of the child.
