“Slumdog” Star’s Crazy Father Beats Him

What a difference a week makes. Last Monday Slumdog Millionaire’s young Indian actors were wrapping up a dream-like trip to the United States where they were treated like royalty at the Academy Awards and later during VIP visits to Disneyland and the world famous Santa Monica Pier. Monday night they jetted back to their homes in Mumbai and now they are back in the headlines, but for all the wrong reasons. According to reports, the father of 10-year-old Azharuddin Mohammed Ismail has gone to the media begging them to publish a public apology for beating his son in front of … Continue reading

Celeb Father Weighs In on Parenting Daughters

Would you take parenting advice from Tim McGraw? The award-winning country crooner (turned fashion designer) and father of three girls is hoping you’ll part with $20 to read his take on how to parent daughters. McGraw’s new children’s book titled, “My Little Girl,” hits bookshelves this week. The story details the relationship between a cowboy-ish dad and his daughter who spend the entire day together (with their dog) doing nothing in particular… on purpose. According to McGraw, that’s the message he wants to send home to parents: You can have an extraordinary day with your daughters doing ordinary things. “As … Continue reading

Mouth-to-Mouth Feeding

By now most of you have seen celebrity mama Alicia Silverstone puking her lunch into her 10-month-old son’s mouth. If you’ve been spared from the trauma thus far, but want to join the masses, you can watch the video here. Apparently, this revolting practice has an actual name: premastication or pre-chewing. According to CBS News via Wikipedia, “Pre-chewing food lubricates it for better infant digestion, and also passes on disease-fighting immunities in the mother’s saliva. However, pre-chewing food also puts baby at risk for any diseases the mother might have, as well.” Upon viewing the actress’ feeding technique many mommy … Continue reading

Dad’s Good Intentions Crumble

How far would you go to help your child obtain a dream? Going to summer camp may not be your kid’s dream, but it is for Bryan Freeborn’s 8-year-old daughter. So, when the North Carolina Girl Scout’s father found out that his little girl’s dream could become reality if she sold a ton of Girl Scout cookies, Freeborn put on his thinking cap. His plan: Use the Internet to generate a record number of cookie sales. His downfall: Not adhering to the Girl Scout’s rule banning Internet cookie sales. Unfortunately, for Freeborn and his daughter, Wild (yes, that’s her real … Continue reading

Is Jon Gosselin a Bad Dad?

A ton of people seem to think so, but it’s not because the Jon & Kate Plus 8 star beats his kids or puts them in harm’s way. Rather, millions of fans with Internet access are bombarding cyberspace with their criticism of the reality TV star’s… shall we say… extracurricular activities. According to Star Magazine and a slew of “entertainment”-based websites, Jon Gosselin, one half of the parenting team that rears a set of 5-year-old sextuplets and twin 9-year-olds, has been participating in behavior worthy of a timeout. The tabloid recently ran an article (with pictures) of the 31-year-old father … Continue reading

“Slumdog” Star’s Parent Could Use Some Help

I can’t stop thinking about the father of the “Slumdog Millionaire” star, who is accused of kicking his 10-year-old son because he refused to grant an interview to a reporter who was planning to pay for the kid to talk. It’s bad enough that the crazed father thrashed his superstar son in front of dozens of witnesses, but to then blame others for his actions is reprehensible, in my opinion. Apparently in Azharuddin Mohammed Ismail’s father’s public apology he took aim at “Slumdog” producer Christian Colson saying that if the loaded Hollywood exec made good on his promise to provide … Continue reading

How Often are you Mad at Dad?

“I don’t need a husband… what I need is a wife.” How often have you heard your frustrated mom friends utter that doozy? Or, are you the one who constantly complains about your hubby’s lack of parental involvement? If so, you aren’t alone–far from it, in fact. According to a new study, nearly 52% of women report being angry with their husbands at least once a week. That number increases to more than 60% among moms with kids under the age of one. So why are moms so mad at dad? According to the survey: 44% of moms feel angry … Continue reading

Pop Culture Round Up: It’s Not What You Think

It’s not what you think, or so claims Mary-Kate Olsen. The normally rail-thin actress says her baggy outfits are not signs that she is pregnant. Tabloids have been reporting that the former “Full House” star is expecting a child, but Olsen’s rep recently issued a statement saying: “Mary-Kate is absolutely not pregnant.” Olsen’s fans criticized the publications for putting Mary-Kate on their covers and jumping to the conclusion that she was having a baby. The actress’ rep declined to comment on her client’s weight gain. However, if there was any doubt that Mary-Kate was not pregnant one would only have … Continue reading
