Celebrating Your Blended Family at Holiday Timeby Nicole Humphrey | More from this Blogger 25 Dec 2008 11:48 AM
Leave it to my beautiful children to save the day however, and they did just that. Instead of truly getting frustrated with me, it started a conversation about the fact that it was our 3rd Christmas together. We began recalling memories created in the past three years, and I was truly surprised by what they remembered about certain events, as well as seeing how important those memories were to creating a secure and family oriented environment for our blended family. I learned that never do these kids question our blended family. They never wonder if I love them, they just know I do. Of course the same goes with Mike's rapport with my children as well. It was a beautiful time and honestly, I wouldn't trade the fact that I didn't scrapbook every single memory, for hearing what their thoughts and feelings were about everything. Please remember as you celebrate your holiday's this year, to celebrate your blended family. Take time to remind yourselves how special your family unit is, and how each person helps to make up the family as a whole. The holidays are a wonderful time of year, magical and merry, but without our families and our memories, it would be little more than some blinking lights and delicious smells. As I have said before, blended families are truly special, and there is no better time than right this very moment, to remind yourself and your family, how much you love them and cherish their place in your life. Have a wonderful holiday and may the new year truly bless you and your blended family!
