Daily Dose of Laughter

Maybe I’m just old but I really don’t get half the programs on Cartoon Network. But apparently kids do. As I sit listening to the rain pound against my hotel window (we’re under a tornado watch!) Tyler is absorbed in that silly program about the Grim Reaper. Bill and Mandy or something like that. Anyway, he’s been watching TV all day since the weather is too bad to leave the hotel and he’s totally enjoying the silly jokes and shenanigans being displayed. Periodically I have glanced at the screen to see if I can get a handle on what’s going … Continue reading

Michael Jackson’s Estate Sues Lloyd’s of London

The estate of Michael Jackson is suing Lloyd’s of London because the insurer did not pay out on the $17.5 million “This Is It” insurance policy at the time of the singer’s death. Lloyd’s of London is standing by its original decision. This story gets more complex as time goes by. In 2009, Michael Jackson was scheduled to preform in a series of concerts that would take place at the O2 Arena in London, England. There were 50 concerts scheduled in all, and the whole thing was called the “This is It” Tour. The purpose of the tour was so … Continue reading

Lloyd’s of London Not Paying for “This is It” Tour

Lloyd’s of London have sued AEG Live and Michael Jackson’s company because Lloyd’s of London wants to nullify a $17.5 million dollar policy that promoters took out. Underwriters feel that the promotors lied about the singer’s medical history when the policy was taken out. In 2009, Michael Jackson was preparing for his “This Is It” tour. This was going to be a series of 50 concerts that would be taking place at the O2 arena, in London, England. The tour had been described as his “London comeback” tour. Tickets for this tour sold out really quickly, and things looked like … Continue reading

Invest in Flying Cars

Cartoons have come a long way since I was a little girl. Cartoons were on only in the morning before school, afternoon after school, and Saturday morning. I had a preference for the cartoons shown on our local Channel 11 over those shown on local Channel 13. Two of my favorite cartoons were The Flinstones and The Jetsons. Funny thing was they were basically the same cartoon but one was in the Stone Age and the other in an imaginary futuristic Space Age. The Jetsons were so cool. The house cleaned itself and got everyone up and ready for the … Continue reading

The Personal Pet Therapy Project: The Pets Pick Their Parts

As it’s become clear that Grandma Dorothy is here for an extended visit, the only ones not fretting about how it affects their lives are Murphy, Mr. Meow, and Tabby. They have enthusiastically embraced the mission of the personal pet therapy project and have eagerly selected their own assignments for my mom’s rehabilitation. Murphy As he does with all the other chores he helps me with, Murph is glad to lend a hand with my new added chores. Like yesterday. I hadn’t realized I needed to call Apria to have the oxygen tanks delivered each week. I thought they’d bring … Continue reading

Bee Movie (2007)

“Bee Movie” is a recent cartoon released by Dreamworks and written by Jerry Seinfeld. I watched it with my children last night and we enjoyed it. Barry is a young bee who has just graduated from college. The lifespan of a bee being somewhat short, his entire college career lasted three days, but his graduation is still a big deal. He can now choose which job he wants out of all those offered in the hive. He can stir honey. He can sweep the floors. He can clean the bathrooms. Whatever job he takes, he will do it the rest … Continue reading

Some Business Bloopers are Funny

I do not like making mistakes in my home business any more than the next person, but I have to admit that some of the things that come across my desk or happen when I am working can be quite funny. Being able to laugh at myself or at some of the kooky things other people do can make the day go by faster and help alleviate some of that every day stress… Yesterday, I sent off a very detailed email to someone who I have not actually met in person yet but with whom I will be working with … Continue reading

Me and Scooby Doo

A funny thing happened Sunday while I was alone. Tyler was with his father watching the football games and I was sitting in the hotel reading the newspaper and flipping the channels trying to find something half-way interesting to watch on TV. At one point I flipped to Scooby Doo and for a split second I thought about stopping but then I hurried on. When I didn’t find anything, I made the rounds again and when I came to the channel that had Scooby Doo on, once again I was tempted to stop and watch. But somehow I felt that … Continue reading

Antidepressants are “anti-loneliness” pills

These are the words of inspirational doctor Patch Adams, the controversial medico who was the basis of the movie of the same name starring Robin Williams. The real Patch Adams has little time for fame, but continues to spread his message of love, laughter, and hope as he completes his daily ward roads around the world. Back in the 70s, Patch Adams worked in a free clinic and saw first hand how ill-equipped many doctors were at being actual healers. He noticed many were detached, clinical, and made little or no meaningful contact with the patients they dealt with. He … Continue reading
