Gift of a Father's Day Poem

One of my husband's favorite Father's Day Gifts from my kids was also the simplest. It is especially poignant when coming from a son.

You will need: 1 piece of cardstock, paint or an inkpad, the following poem, and a picture frame.

I typed this poem about Daddy's and printed it on a piece of cardstock turned landscape direction.

Footprints

"Walk a little slower Daddy," said a child so small. "I'm following in your footsteps and I don't want to fall.

Sometimes your steps are very fast, Sometimes they're hard to see; So walk a little slower, Daddy, For you are leading me.

Someday when I 'm all grown up, You're what I want to be; Then I will have a little child Who'll want to follow me.

And I would want to lead just right, And know that I was true; So walk a little slower, Daddy, For I must follow you." -Author Unknown

Then I took an inkpad, but you could also use paint, and inked up the bottom of one of my son's feet. Then I had him stand on one side of the poem. Then I inked up his other foot and had him put it on the other side of the poem. Then I put the paper in an 8 x 10 frame. If your child's footprint was larger you could do one footprint with the paper turned vertically and put it in a certificate/document frame.

Now every time my husband looks at the poem he remembers that his little son is watching him and following in his footsteps. It's also fun to see how much my son's feet have grown.
