Laughing Through the Challenging Times

My little family received a compliment from one of my eldest daughter’s friends the other day. Some Days…There is Nothing to Do but Laugh

I know that we all “know” in theory that laughter is pretty much a cure-all and when times get tough and stressful—laughter can be the very best medicine indeed. As a single parent, however, we might be tempted to take everything very seriously—after all, a great deal is often riding on our shoulders. Are you prepared to say ‘No?’

Sometimes being a good parent means saying ‘no,’ sometimes it means disciplining a child. But as a columnist, Jo Boole, in our local paper pointed out on Friday it seems parents have forgotten how, or are frightened of, saying ‘no.’ As Christians we should realize that saying ‘no’ is part of being a good parent. Look at the example we have of our Heavenly Father. Sometimes God says ‘no’ to us, because what we ask for is not in our best interests.
