Housework and Cooling Costs

Keep cool, get your housework done and save on cooling costs all at the same time. Today is going to be  scorcher! Even though it is only May, the temperatures are in the high 80s with high humidity. It makes things very uncomfortable, and the air conditioning will need to go on if we don’t want to all melt into little puddles on the floor. When the days get like this, the housework rules have to change a bit to accommodate the heat and humidity. Because our window air conditioners take up a lot of energy, I have to be … Continue reading

Temple Open House In Brigham City- Part II

My little family made it to the open house last night. It was fun to get to go on a little short trip and show them something so meaningful. As we were driving there, I could tell my kids were excited. As we made our exit off of the freeway, the temple spires were in the distance and we pointed it out to the kids. It was a beautiful sight at this time of year to see those white spires against the brown mountains behind it. When we got there, we had to be shuttled in to the temple grounds … Continue reading

Temple Open House in Brigham City

On September 23rd, another Utah temple will be dedicated. The Brigham City temple. For that day, church services will be cancelled in Utah and surrounding areas so that members ages 8 and up can attend a broadcast of the temple dedication. As we were listening to this announcement in church on Sunday, my husband said to me that we should make it a priority to take our children to the open house before the dedication. I loved this idea. Our children are little, and will not be able to attend the temple for some time. They have never seen the … Continue reading

Safe Housekeeping During Pregnancy

When you are pregnant, you may find yourself suddenly motivated to clean more than you usually do. Of course, you may not, and that is also perfectly normal. I never experienced an overwhelming urge to clean house during either of my pregnancies, although I did clean a little more than normal during my second pregnancy. Cleaning during pregnancy is not harmful in and of itself. When the urge to clean strikes, be careful about what products you use to clean, and about some of the chores that you choose to tackle. If you have been bitten by the housekeeping bug, … Continue reading

My Garage is a Hazard

If your garage is anything like mine, it’s where everything goes to die. If I don’t know where to put it, I’ll put it in the garage, “for now.” Yeah, around here for now can last any way from a day until they cart me off to the nursing home. The bad thing about garages is that we store all the dangerous stuff out there. All the chemicals we don’t want to store in the house and all the sharp tools, they are all in the garage. I’ve spent so much time organizing my garage but unfortunately, I don’t manage … Continue reading

Mommy Puts Her Foot Down

I was walking the dogs tonight and all of a sudden I see four running feet coming towards me. Yes, my two children. I just knew they didn’t tell my husband they left the house to come meet me down the street. Since they are 6 and 3 this makes me very uncomfortable. They just think they can open the door and start running wild in the street. It’s unacceptable. I was willing to look the other way on it with a stern look and warning that they will never do that again. However, the next thing they do just … Continue reading

Fuzzy Socks Are My Favorite

I really love thick fuzzy socks. Every day when I come home from work the first thing I do is take off my dress shoes and put on the fuzzy socks. I tend to buy a lot of socks, because I like them but I have also found that in my house, socks have more than one use. Fuzzy socks are great for dusting. Just put them on your hands and you can do two handed dusting in half the time. This works great for dusting any little figurines you have too, you don’t have to worry about them getting … Continue reading

Spending Time With My Sister Part V

On the fourth day of our visit, we had early morning plans. I made breakfast while my sister nursed the baby and my son asked to hold the baby repeatedly. After a breakfast of an egg omelet and an orange, we got the kids ready for our early morning outing. First, stop of the morning was my sister’s chiropractic adjustment. The baby was also getting an adjustment. While, they were at their appointment, my son and I went to the convenient store across the street to buy more diapers for my son. We then returned to the chiropractor’s office just … Continue reading
