Paying the Price for Procrastinating

Am I the only parent who waits until 11:55 p.m. on Christmas Eve to start wrapping a closet full of gifts? Let the festive cloaking of toys and books begin… before my kid wakes up. My gift wrapping marathon typically begins after my young daughter goes to bed… or, rather, to sleep. On Christmas Eve that can take up to three hours. Knowing that someone undressed that tree’s lovely branches and prepared it for disposal within hours of Santa’s visit is utterly heartbreaking. It’s especially gut-wrenching … Continue reading

The Gift of Time

If your child is like mine, then she likely got more plastic junk… I mean, Christmas presents… than she knows what to do with. Christmas morning can lead to sensory overload for many young children… and their tired parents too. But when all is said and done, and the gifts have been opened and the paper gets pitched, I will bet you anything that the present your child appreciates the … Continue reading
