Father Tries To Poison Kids

Here’s an example of one of those sad but true cases of parents gone mad. A 41-year-old Atlanta man has admitted that he poisoned soup and fed it to his two young kids in order to extort money from the Campbell Soup Company. He has plead guilty to communicating false claims. After placing “life-threatening foreign substances” in the soup and then forcing his kids to eat it, the man then called the company and claimed the soup was contaminated. The man’s children are 3-years-old and 18-months-old and unfortunately this is not an isolated case of his abuse. The kids were … Continue reading

Update: 3-Year-Old Wanders On Interstate

Here’s an update to a blog I wrote about what I considered to be an example of bad parenting. It involved a 3-year-old Indianapolis boy found wandering down Interstate 465, clad in a t-shirt and diaper. You can read the blog here. The mother was charged with four counts of child neglect and the kids were placed in state custody. Initial reports stated that the boy’s sister was found eating spaghetti off the floor, in fact she was eating canned spaghetti out of the trash (the can had been placed in the trash the night before, according to the mother). … Continue reading

Another Example Of Bad Parenting

It’s always disturbing to read about parents who don’t take their responsibilities as a parent seriously. I wanted my first blog of the year to be about something happy, but this is far more important an issue to me. This past Sunday yet another parent was negligent in her responsibilities as a mother when she allowed her 3-year-old to escape from their second floor apartment and wander off, ultimately finding his way to a busy interstate. According to police reports, the 3-year-old Indianapolis toddler was found playing on the busy highway, wearing nothing but a diaper and t-shirt, while his … Continue reading

Baby Given Four Times the Legal Limit of Alcohol

We all know the dangers of adults drinking alcohol. Alcohol slows down mental functions and reaction time and in large amounts can case unconsciousness and even death. So why would parents give a two-month old baby alcohol? That is the question doctors and police in Colorado are asking themselves. The baby girl and her mother were dropped off at a hospital in Colorado by the mother’s boyfriend. Upon examination doctors found that the infant had a blood alcohol level of 0.364, four times the legal driving rate in Colorado. The mother gave mixed stories about what happened so investigators are … Continue reading

Make Sure You Know Who’s Watching Your Kids

Did you hear the one about the man who put a feverish baby into a freezer to cool her down? Unfortunately this is not a joke. A 21-year-old Canadian man faces charges of criminal negligence and assault for putting his girlfriend’s 10-month-old baby in the freezer. The girl’s mother found the child crammed into a freezer alongside ice cubes and hamburger meat. The boyfriend claims, as if this would make any difference, that he left the door ajar. The mother refutes his claim, saying she found the door closed when she returned home. The boyfriend also claimed that the child … Continue reading

Selling Our Kids and Using Them As Weapons

Some women don’t deserve to call themselves mothers. I’m usually not this harsh but I am greatly disturbed by two sad incidents in the news recently. You may have heard about them, if not, let me fill you in. A 31-year-old Davenport, Iowa woman allegedly tried to trade her 4-year-old son to pay off a $200 debt on a wedding dress. She faces up to 10 years in prison for this class C felony (she’s charged with one count of purchase or sale of an individual). According to reports, on at least two separate occasions she offered her son as … Continue reading
