Senior Pictures Have Come a Long Way

Senior pictures sure have come a long way. When I was a senior you had your pictures taken at a photography studio, with a backdrop. If you were really bold, you chose some wild colors for your background.
They consisted of head shots, your smiling face and never-to-be-forgotten 80's hairstyle...or whatever decade you happen to be from.
My senior pictures are a bit embarrassing as I went through this strange stage where I had really short, spiked hair...not very girly. My husband's senior picture was the opposite; he had more hair than me.
Well last week I had my oldest son's senior pictures taken. I wanted to get them done early while I had the money and a special was running. I happen to be friends with the people who run a great photography business called, "God's Touch Photography," so I was really expecting some great shots.
They ended up surpassing my expectations and I have only seen a sneak preview of my son's pictures.
Today's senior pictures aren't relegated to a photography studio. We visited three separate sites. One was located near a rustic bridge, another was on some train tracks and the last was a warehouse. It is amazing how the location can bring a picture alive. And the settings were absolutely perfect for my son.
We also incorporated using my son's electric guitar, an item that he is quite intimate with. When you make your pictures personal, it adds a special flair. The guitar just really made his pictures stand out. It represented him and he felt so much more comfortable having his pictures taken with
it.
You have to understand; he is quite shy and doesn't like having the spotlight on him in any way. But with that guitar, he gained a new confidence.
It was also nice to change things up. He wore a shirt underneath his buttoned down shirt. So we got shots with the buttoned down shirt, the buttoned down shirt open and then with just his shirt underneath. Talk about variety.
But the shots weren't just head shots. They got some really cool poses, ones I would have never thought of. And with the editing, well, they created what I would call artwork. In essence, they captured him so perfectly.
I would highly recommend taking some of the suggestions I mentioned for your teen's senior pictures. And if you live in the Milwaukee area, I would also highly recommend "God's Touch Photography."
Do you have any senior picture stories?
