Senioritis

It has arrived...and right on schedule too. Now that we have slipped into the final term of my eldest daughter's senior year, she has caught a hard case of Senioritis-just getting up and getting going on school mornings is tough (although the socializing all weekend is not) and as for getting in those papers and projects-it is like pulling teeth!

I have told my daughter and myself that she is actually right on target-she is supposed to be ready to be done with high school. The fact that she is far more interested in where she is going to be living and what she is going to be studying in the fall is a good sign, it means that she is moving through this transition. I remember my own senior year and how in those final weeks it was nearly impossible to stay focused and interested in what was going on in the academic department. I, too, had a bad case of Senioritis and was ready to move on!

We are coping with lots of lists and getting everything written down on the calendar-at least all the things that we absolutely HAVE to do. I have my own highlighted list of when I need to write those checks, sign those papers, and all the upcoming graduation activities. Meanwhile, there are activities on the college front as well (visits, orientations, paperwork, etc.)-not to mention an upcoming "big" birthday (18) and getting registered to vote.

Despite the naps and steady wearing of pajamas, I think the only cure for Senioritis is time. June is fast approaching and my daughter will get there along with millions of other high school seniors. This time of year we parents prop them up and push them on through-Senioritis or not!
