The Case of the Drowned Sports Car

A man in Texas has been accused of intentionally driving his expensive sports car into three feet of salt water. It is claimed that he chose to do this so he could collect on a $2.2 million insurance policy. The man says that it was an accident. Doing something like that on purpose could be considered insurance fraud. In 2009, an man named Andy House, who is an auto dealer in Texas, owned a really expensive sports car. The car was a Bugatti Veryron EB. It is one of the most expensive types of sports cars in the entire world, … Continue reading

The Mormon Mom Blog Squad

There really could be a squad for all the Mormon Mommy Bloggers out there. Actually, it would be more like an army, not a squadron. But, that’s beside the point. I recently wrote an article titled, Mormon Mommy Blogs, that talks about the obsession with these blogs. I have to admit, I’m part of that obsession. Sometimes, I find myself looking at these blogs and my head is spinning. After all, I’m a MM Blogger too. I don’t have advertising, and sponsors, and loads of followers. I secretly might want all of that though. I don’t know, maybe I don’t. … Continue reading

On which topics would you like to see more blogs? Meanwhile, take a look at all of the articles we had in June. June 2nd Introducing Babies to Birds Perhaps it is the fact that … Continue reading

Flying Solo

My baby is gone. She learned how to ride a two-wheeler and took off. It’s a mother’s worst nightmare. Your child is ready to spread her wings, but you just want to smother those growing appendages in a bear hug and hold on for dear life. This summer, my little fledgling was itching to take flight and she used her beloved bike to soar… far away from home. Too far. Way too far. What started out as a request to ride solo to the end of our cul-de-sac morphed into a journey stretching several blocks into an unfamiliar neighborhood filled … Continue reading

Animal Abuse on the Set of ‘The Hobbit?’

As I mentioned, we saw Lincoln this past weekend. One of the previews was for The Hobbit, the much anticipated Peter Jackson film which opens in a few weeks. But, the film isn’t without controversy. Several animal wranglers used on the film say that up to 27 animals died on the New Zealand ranch where they were being housed and trained due to poor living conditions. The wranglers also claim that many animals were hurt and had to be euthanized, including a horse named Rainbow that broke its back. Yet another horse reportedly died after falling over a bluff and … Continue reading

Keeping Our Kids Safe

As a parent, we always worry that something will happen to our children. We try to anticipate any situation they could be in that could be harmful and help them avoid it. We give them tools to keep themselves safe. Sadly sometimes, it’s not enough. When you are a single parent keeping your child safe becomes even more of a challenge. Due to only being one person and having to work, you are not able to supervise as much as you would like to, you can’t always be there, just a shout away if they need you. Recently in my … Continue reading

The Shocking Verdict of Casey Anthony

On Tuesday I watched the live broadcast of the verdict being read for Casey Anthony. As was the case for most people, I was stunned when I heard “Not Guilty.” Poor little Caylee Anthony won’t see justice done…at least not this side of things. Facebook got very active, lots of thoughts and opinions. Most people can’t wrap their minds around the verdict but others believe the circumstantial evidence wasn’t enough and that the prosecution reached too high in making this a death penalty case. Then of course there is the whole thing of not knowing what exactly caused her death. … Continue reading

Super Savings on Spring Break Travel

Ordinarily, I would never consider spending spring break in Sin City, but when money talks, I listen. In this case, Spirit Airlines is doing the speaking with unbelievably low fares from Los Angeles to Vegas. How low is the discount carrier going to fill planes on its new route: try $9. Less than ten bucks to get to and from L.A. and Vegas—jaw dropping! Of course, after you add in taxes and fees the sale price goes up to $39 for a round-trip ticket, but still, that’s a lot less than it would cost to fill up your car and … Continue reading

Time 4 Learning

Online learning is becoming an increasingly more popular choice for many homeschool families. Some use it to supplement while others use it as the core of their curriculum. There are so many sites offering this type of learning that it can become difficult to figure out which one fits your family. Drawn by convenience and the appeal to students, parents are using today’s technology as an educational tool. One such program on the internet which provides quality education is Time 4 Learning. From the website: “Time4Learning is a student-paced online educational system covering preschool through middle school. It is popular … Continue reading

Pain and Appetite

Pain can be hard on your body. Sure, it’s a good indicator that something is wrong… but pain can really mess with your body’s normal function. Maybe you have trouble sleeping, or maybe you lose your appetite. It seems like pain is one of those signals that overrides some of the other noise going on in your body — like the rumble in your tummy that says you’re ready for another meal. To be honest, I hadn’t thought much about it until it became a personal problem. I’ve been experiencing a lot of pain lately from the region of my … Continue reading
