Showing Some Appreciation

When was the last time you said "thank you" to all those helpers and "behind the scenes" support for the challenges and realities of being a parent? This morning, I find myself thinking off all the teachers, friends, family members, coaches, and neighbors who have been part of my family's life. I am under no illusion that my being a single mom means that I do everything myself. There's absolutely no way!

So, I would like to extend a solid "thank you" to all those folks over the years-the parents who helped out with rides and carpools, the coaches who volunteered and dealt with all sorts of things on the practice and playing field, and those teachers who have not only taught my children academic knowledge and information-but also been involved in helping them develop into the strong characters they are.

Of course, I only know SOME of these people by name. There are many more who I've never seen or talked to who have helped keep my kids safe and thriving over the years-bus drivers and police and public safety officers. I even catch myself thinking of all the cooks and chefs who've prepared nutritious meals my children have eaten!

And, then there are my friends and family who have been more closely involved with the lives of my children-all those birthday cards and gifts, silly songs and offers to baby sit, conversations in my living room or kitchen, vacations, holidays, and just banding together to help my children realize and feel like they are part of a warm, caring community of individuals.

So, Thank You! To ALL of you-parenting can be a lonely job and I certainly couldn't do it without all the help! Are there any people I left off? Any others we should be showing our appreciation to for helping us raise happy, healthy, productive children?
