Beyonce Can’t Catch a Break

Although young, beautiful and talented, it seems as if Beyonce simply cannot catch a break.  The singer gave birth to her first child, daughter Blue Ivy, last January.  But, before she gave birth, there was a rumor going around that she wasn’t really pregnant and that she had a surrogate carrying the baby after an Australian interview seemed to show her baby belly deflate upon sitting. Then, there was controversy over the fact that Beyonce and hubby Jay-Z reportedly dropped $1.3 million to reserve the entire floor of the Lenox Hospital where Blue Ivy was born.  Parents claimed that they … Continue reading

Apply to be a Disney Mom (or Disney Dad)

What’s the ultimate goal of many Disney fanatics? See all the films and television shows? Visit all the parks? Work for the company, at one of the parks or even in the movie division? I know for many, it’s the latter. A lucky few are qualified to really work in making magic: to be an animator, or an Imagineer. Many of us just don’t have the skill set to do much. What kind of job could knowing everything about the Disney parks get us? How about a seat on the Disney Moms Panel? You don’t actually get paid to be … Continue reading

Daddy and Me Layout Ideas

T-minus eight days until Father’s Day. Fortunately, now that school’s out for the summer you shouldn’t have any problem finding extra hands to help craft the perfect Father’s Day gift—a Daddy and Me scrapbook. If you are short on time and talent, then consider purchasing a Dad-themed scrapbook kit which you can fill with personalized photos and sentimental journaling blocks. If you have older children, then consider creating a memory album from scratch. When you make your own scrapbook you can customize it to fit your dad’s personality and you’ll end up with a one-of-a-kind keepsake. Your personalized Daddy and … Continue reading

Do Dads Scrapbook?

I recently posted a blog about the excitement surrounding national scrapbook conventions. The hugely popular events attract scrappers from around the world, including men. Yes, real men scrap. At least that’s the word from an artist friend of mine who happens to be a guy… and who actually has designed some amazingly detailed scrapbook layouts. I should clarify that he doesn’t scrap in the traditional sense. Rather than attend crops or meet up with fellow scrappers at the local craft store on weekends, my very masculine friend designs scrapbook pages that are used as store samples. He’s paid by companies … Continue reading

Dumb Move By Dad Makes International Headlines

It went from bring your kid to work day, to have your kid do your work day, to you may not have a job to work at day. I’m referring to the mega controversial incident involving air traffic controller, Glenn Duffy, who allowed his 9-year-old twins to direct planes at one of the nation’s busiest airports. Unless you’ve been living under a rock, you’ve probably heard the recordings of Duffy’s questionable stunt at Kennedy Airport. According to news reports, the 48-year-old dad allowed his two children to relay instructions to pilots on two separate days. Duffy brought his son to … Continue reading

What a Catch! What a Dad!

Three-year-old Emily Monforto may not know it, but she is one lucky kid. While other children her age have dads that give new meaning to the word “selfish,” young Emily’s pop, is making headlines for his selfless fathering. Steve Monforto couldn’t believe his luck when he made the grab of a lifetime at a Philadelphia Phillies baseball game earlier this week. Monforto lunged so far over the railing to snag Jayson Werth’s foul ball in the fifth inning against Washington, fans sitting near him thought he was going to take a header into the stands below him. Fortunately, Moforto’s spectacular … Continue reading

Catching Up with Britney Spears

Britney Spears seems to be making a comeback and while her life is still probably considered crazy by some standards, things do seem to be working out well for the former pop queen. She’s getting ready to head out on her Circus tour in March, but she may not be alone. Custody arrangements are being worked out with her ex, Kevin Federline, so Britney will be able to have her boys join her on the road. Right now, Kevin has primary custody with Britney having 50-50 access to them in visitation rights, so Kevin is working on a schedule where … Continue reading

Baby Blog Week in Review: August 25th Through September 7th

Now that Fall is starting to show its colors, my kids are more exited than ever to be outside. They are busy exploring nature, examining seed pods, planting popcorn and watching migrating birds. This time of years is a wonderful time for babies to explore more of the world around them. Look for future articles about ways to do this. Meanwhile, check out what has been going on recently here in the Baby Blog. August 25th Baby Blog Week in Review: August 18th Through August 24th Somewhere near the end of summer my babies always seem to go through a … Continue reading

Dads’ Weird “Things”

Does your husband have a weird thing when it comes to caring for the baby? I am very fortunate. My husband is a preschool teacher and so when it comes to diapers, pottying, puking, you name it. . .he’s in there up to his elbows, getting dirty. The only thing he hasn’t obviously done is help feed the baby. . .but he was right there for the post feeding spewage and burping that inevitably ensues. But I’m running into more and more moms whose husbands have ‘things’ with the baby. For example, I have a good friend who had her … Continue reading
