Should we take a few lessons on love from the younger (much younger) generations? Here’s what some kids think about love: Loving somebody means you have to kiss ‘em right on the mouth! What’s New at FamilySearch? – Week of July 12, 2012

FamilySearch is the free-to-use genealogy website that is run by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Genealogists of any faith, or who have no religious beliefs, are welcome to use the website. It updates frequently with new resources. Here is what’s new at FamilySearch this week. FamilySearch volunteers are still working on the 1940 Census Index Project. A blog post on July 6, 2012, reports that the effort is “Going Strong”. My husband did a great family home evening this week with our kids. It was simple, and short, with a little activity that they enjoyed. He first began by sharing the golden rule scripture. When I first started at the Marriage Blog I mentioned my feelings on diamond commercials and promised to expound on them. Given that we see many such ads this time of year, it seems like an appropriate time to make my promised follow-up. I’m not a big jewelry person so diamonds never appealed to me. Choo-Choo Scrapbook

Instead of celebrating the season with a monster Christmas party, this year my daughter’s school is hosting a Polar Express-themed winter shindig. The teachers are planning a series of activities and events, which feature lessons on trains, the spirit of giving and other topics covered in the classic children’s book by Chris Van Allsburg. With all of the hard work going into designing the massive soiree, naturally, the school wants to document the event from beginning to end. That’s where I come in.
