Alright — So the big gift our son received this year was a child-sized plastic basketball hoop (with inflatable mini-ball). He likes balls a lot and recently he’d been becoming quite adept at throwing them across the room and handling them with confidence. Birthday Parties- Are Some Parents Going Too Far?

Have birthday parties for kids gotten out of hand? Have they gotten more elaborate? Yes, according to a campaign being launched today called Birthdays Without Pressure. One of the organizers of the campaigned realized that she was going overboard when she had a tea party for 15 kindergartners for her daughter’s birthday three years ago. Spending for a toddler party!

My daughter’s birthday is today. She is three years old. (How did that happen?) When I first started planning her party I wanted to only invite a few other children, so we could keep it low budget low key. It didn’t work out that way.
